How do you register your address with a White Card in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2026?

Every foreigner who stays outside a hotel or registered hostel should treat address registration as mandatory. University and SFA guidance commonly point to a roughly 48-hour window after entry. Keep your entry stamp; offices use it as the arrival clock. If you move from a hostel to a private flat in Grbavica or Ilidža, register again for the new address.

Hotels and hostels usually file for you. Ask for your copy and keep it. Private accommodation means you go in person to the competent SFA field office, such as Field Centre Sarajevo for many capital stays, with landlord papers ready. Change of address mid-stay needs a fresh registration, not a silent WhatsApp move.

Bring your passport and the landlord pack: a copy of the landlord’s ID (lična karta), their CIPS document proving registered residence at the property, and a Proof of Accommodation statement. That statement should name the landlord, address, landlord JMBG (personal ID number), phone, your name and passport details, and the stay dates, in Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian. If the landlord cannot join you at SFA, get the statement verified at the municipality (opština) or a notary first.

Pay the White Card administrative fee by uplatnica (bank or post payment slip) before the visit. Recent student guidance often cites a total near BAM 11–12 including the post charge; confirm the live payment code on the current SFA notice because residence and White Card codes differ. Cash or card at the foreigners desk is usually not an option. Late registration can add a fine on top of the fee.
