Which Hungarian exam certificate should you take in 2026?

For general proof of Hungarian as a foreign language, ECL and Origó are the names movers meet most often. ECL, run through the University of Pécs exam centre network, offers accredited Hungarian levels commonly including A2 through C1 with listening, reading, writing, and speaking components. Origó, through ELTE Origó Nyelvi Centrum in Budapest, also runs accredited Hungarian-as-a-foreign-language sittings at levels such as B1–C1, with oral and written options depending on the product. Other Hungarian university exam centres exist; employers and schools sometimes name a specific brand, so do not assume every “nyelvvizsga” stamp is interchangeable.
