Complete the ownership transfer with the cantonal road office so you become the registered keeper. Insurance and inspection duties follow that register, not the handshake date. Before the car is licensed in your name, arrange compulsory motor third-party liability insurance with an insurer authorised in Switzerland. The insurer sends an electronic insurance certificate (eVn) straight to the road office; the certificate must be valid on the licensing date and is normally usable for about 30 days from issue.
