What is it like to rent in Taiwan in 2026?

The gap between Taipei's core and everywhere else is the defining fact of Taiwan renting. You will mostly choose between two formats. A 套房 (tao fang) is a studio: one room with its own small bathroom, sometimes a kitchenette, common in converted buildings and cheapest to run solo. A 整層 (zheng ceng) is a whole floor or whole unit with separate bedrooms, kitchen, and living room, better for couples, sharers, or families.
