Is Curaçao dog-friendly in 2026?

Quieter west and Bandabou beaches such as Daaibooi and Santa Cruz corridors often feel more practical for leashed dogs than densely loungered Mambo Beach club strips. Confirm local access and bar rules before you assume every cove is open. Pietermaai waterfront terraces, including spots around De Heeren at Sea and Dive City, have hosted leashed dogs when owners ask and keep animals calm: Living in Willemstad and Café and dining culture.

Westpunt and Bandabou housing with yards can ease midday heat better than courtyard flats without outdoor space: Living in Westpunt. Always verify pet clauses in leases before you wire a deposit: How to rent a home.

Import is a veterinary file, not a cabin upgrade. Dogs need microchip, timed rabies, parasite treatments, endorsed certificates, and UOVZ pre-approval. Pit bull–type dogs and pets from most of South and Central America (except Suriname) are not permitted: Bring a pet.

Midday asphalt and UV punish paws and coats; dawn and dusk walks are the local default. Carry water, use shade, and treat dive-boat and busy beach-club days as leave-the-dog-home days: Outdoor recreation. Dog-friendly meetups and rescue events can double as friend funnels: Making friends.
