Kyrgyzstan opens an online Digital Nomad status application portal
The Labor Ministry now takes Digital Nomad status applications on dnomad.e-gov.kg. First grant is 60 days, then one year, renewable up to 10 years.

Kyrgyzstan made Digital Nomad status easier to request. The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration says foreign citizens can now apply on a dedicated electronic platform. The service sits on the government portal at dnomad.e-gov.kg, as announced on EGOV.KG.
This is a news summary, not legal advice. Rules and eligible passport lists can change on the portal.
What changed
- Online filing is live. You create a personal account on dnomad.e-gov.kg, then submit Digital Nomad status papers there.
- Stay timeline is staged. Status starts at 60 days. You can extend to one year, then renew yearly for up to 10 years total.
- The legal base already existed. Lawmakers locked the Digital Nomad framework in late 2024. The news is the full online application path, not a brand-new idea.
- Extras after approval. Status holders can skip ordinary local registration for the first stretch, get a personal ID number (PIN), open a bank account, and work remotely without a separate work permit.
- Visa-required passports still need entry papers. Many applicants also need a type DN e-visa on evisa.e-gov.kg before they fly.
What you still need
- Work in an approved digital or tech field (software, ICT, creative digital work, and related high-tech areas). General remote jobs outside those fields are usually out.
- A passport from a country on the Cabinet list (about 61 nationalities; check the live list on the portal).
- Income proof such as bank statements or service contracts. Official summaries do not publish a fixed monthly dollar floor.
- Passport scan, a digital photo, and translations into Kyrgyz or Russian when papers are in another language.
- Time for review: ministries often cite about 7 working days when the file is complete.
Who this affects
- Remote tech workers and freelancers who want a low-cost Central Asia base in Bishkek or around Issyk-Kul.
- People comparing Kyrgyzstan with Kazakhstan’s Neo Nomad visa or Georgia-style long stays.
- Passport holders who already enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free (for example some CIS countries) and want status after arrival.
- Passport holders who need a DN entry visa first, then activate status.
What to do next
- Read the Labor Ministry note on EGOV.KG and open dnomad.e-gov.kg to check your nationality list.
- Walk through our Kyrgyzstan Digital Nomad status page and the Kyrgyzstan country scores.
- If you are weighing Central Asia vs the Caucasus or Southeast Asia, start with a peer compare such as Georgia vs Thailand.
