   Confirm the Retirement category fits

   Check you are applying as a retired foreign national who will live on pensions, savings, or other means of support, not as a local-hire work case.

   Assemble means-of-support proof

   Collect pension particulars, bank statements, and evidence of assets in Jamaica or overseas. Translate non-English papers before you submit.

   Bring your passport (at least six months validity), original birth certificate, and marriage or divorce papers if they apply.

   Write your reason letter to PICA

   Address a letter to the CEO, PICA, 25 Constant Spring Road, Kingston 10, explaining why you seek permanent residence.

   Prepare photos and the application fee

   Get two identical passport photos certified by a Justice of the Peace and plan for the published permanent residence fee of JM$100,000.

   Submit originals at PICA

   File the complete set of original documents with PICA. Keep copies of everything you hand over and any receipt for the fee.

    Attend the PICA interview

    Expect an interview with the Investigation and Surveillance Unit. Answer consistently with your papers and timeline.

    Wait for the decision and keep status lawful

    PICA often processes files in about three to six months. Stay on a lawful stay while you wait, and ask how work rights apply if you plan a Jamaican job.
