Singapore transit score up after Circle Line Stage 6 opens

We raised Singapore’s public transport score from 9.5 to 9.7 on Country To Live. The Land Transport Authority says Circle Line Stage 6 opened for passenger service on 12 July 2026, adding Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road stations and closing the Circle Line loop between HarbourFront and Marina Bay.

This is a data call for people comparing daily mobility. It is not a promise that every commute got shorter, and it is not advice to move.

Why the loop matters for movers

• The missing link is open. LTA confirms CCL6 passenger service started on 12 July 2026 with three new stations on a 4 km stretch.
• More ways around the CBD. The completed Circle Line links to existing train lines and gives routes that bypass busy City Hall and Raffles Place interchanges. That is the kind of redundancy remote workers and office commuters feel every week.
• Capacity rose with the opening. LTA says 23 new Circle Line trains were bought for the extension, lifting the fleet from 64 to 87 trains (about 36% more).
• Southern Waterfront access improved. Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road sit between HarbourFront and Marina Bay, so renters and office staff in that corridor gain walk-up MRT options that did not exist before.
• We only moved transit. Housing costs, residency pathways, and tax scores stay where they were. This update is about rail usefulness, not the whole Singapore package.

2. Pair this score with housing affordability. Better trains do not cancel Singapore’s rent pressure.
3. Re-check residency and work-pass rules separately. A closed rail loop does not change immigration paperwork.
