How to get Argentina’s digital nomad temporary stay
Confirm your passport needs no tourist visa, enter Argentina lawfully, gather remote foreign-work proof with apostilles and Spanish translations, then file in person at Migraciones.
Before you start
Passport must be tourist-visa exempt
Only nationals who do not need a tourist visa to enter Argentina can use this digital nomad temporary residence as published.
If you need a tourist visa first, this is not your published route.
Work must stay with foreign payers
You provide remote services through tech tools for people or companies based outside Argentina. Local Argentine employment is a different category.
Disposición DNM 758/2022 and the Migraciones service page set the rules. There is no published fixed monthly USD income floor. Extension is once only and needs at least 50% presence in Argentina during the first stay.
Migraciones offices can ask for extra papers. Follow the live checklist for your city and keep originals ready for the appointment.
- 1
Confirm passport and remote work fit
Check tourist-visa exemption for your nationality and confirm your clients or employer are outside Argentina.
- 2
Enter Argentina lawfully
You file inside the country. Arrive on a lawful entry and keep your passport stamps and travel proof.
- 3
Build the remote-work pack
Write a short signed request with personal details and the remote work you will do. Add a brief CV, contracts or employer letters, pay proofs or invoices, and at least one work reference.
- •Apostille or legalise foreign papers and get sworn Spanish translations when Migraciones requires them.
- 4
Get local Argentina papers
Prepare address proof and, if you are over 16, the Argentine criminal-record certificate from the national reincidencia register.
- 5
Book Migraciones in person
In CABA, use the Migraciones guidance email on the service page. Elsewhere, go to the Migraciones office for your area. This route is not filed through RaDEX on the official page.
- 6
File and pay the migration fee
Attend with originals, pay the published fee for your case, and answer any follow-up questions from the officer.
- 7
Keep remote foreign work during the stay
Stay within the granted period (up to 180 days). Do not switch into unpaid-looking local work that breaks the remote-foreign purpose.
- 8
Extend once if you still qualify
One extension of up to 180 days needs income proofs from the first stay, Argentine criminal-record proof, at least 50% presence in Argentina during the first period, and the extension fee.
This is informational only. Argentina Migraciones and Disposición DNM 758/2022 set the live rules. Confirm them before you apply.

This is a temporary stay of up to about one year with one extension. It does not itself become permanent residence. Longer plans usually need another Argentine category such as rentista or work sponsorship.
Practical difficulty
easy
Rough guide only. Your case depends on papers, timing, and rule changes.
Rated easy when your passport is visa exempt, you are already in Argentina, and your foreign remote-work file is clear. Apostilles and Spanish translations still take time.
