How do you bring pets to Colombia in 2026?

Register as an ICA user, then open SISPAP (the sanitary import/export information system) to request the Certificado de Inspección Sanitaria (CIS) and pay the published inspection fee. Print the CIS request and payment proof to carry. Use one request for multiple dogs or multiple cats (up to ten of the same species); file separate requests if you bring both a dog and a cat.

Obtain an official sanitary health certificate from the competent authority in the country of origin, issued no more than ten calendar days before entry. ICA requires the certificate to identify the animal, confirm it is free of listed contagious and parasitic disease concerns, confirm internal and external antiparasitic treatment within sixty days (product, active ingredient, date), and confirm fitness to travel. Carry current vaccination certificates with vaccine name, lot, administration date, and validity. Dogs need rabies plus distemper, canine hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, coronavirus, and parainfluenza coverage as listed by ICA. Cats need rabies plus panleukopenia, feline viral rhinotracheitis, and calicivirus. First-time rabies shots need at least twenty-one days before boarding. Minimum age is about fifteen weeks.

Go to the ICA office at the airport, port, or border with the pet, printed CIS request, payment proof, original health certificate, and vaccination records. Inspectors check documents and the animal. If everything matches, they issue the CIS. If not, ICA can order retention, home quarantine, re-export, or other sanitary measures, and you pay the costs.
