Greece climate score restored after late-summer review of the Attica fire cut

We raised Greece's climate score from 8.7 to 9.2 on Country To Live. In late August 2026 we reviewed the early August Attica wildfire emergency that forced evacuations and sea rescues near Porto Germeno and drove our cut, as reported in CNBC coverage with AFP. Peak fire weeks no longer define the full year for movers comparing Greece.

Why we changed the score

• The August cut tracked a fire emergency. Gale-driven blazes west of Athens, home losses, and coastal evacuations were a clear living shock.
• Shoulder seasons still carry Greece's climate strength. Milder months and cooler highland or island pockets remain part of year-round life outside peak fire weeks.
• A late-summer review resets the baseline. We use climate for full-year living, not one disaster fortnight alone.
• We restored the full 0.5. Greece returns to 9.2/10. Other Greece scores stay put this round.
