Bulgaria economy score raised after UniCredit lifts 2026 GDP growth forecast
We raised Bulgaria's economy rating by 0.2 points to 7.0/10 after UniCredit lifted its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 2.9%, up 0.4 percentage points from its March outlook.
We raised Bulgaria's economy score from 6.8 to 7.0 on Country To Live. UniCredit revised its 2026 GDP growth outlook for Bulgaria up to 2.9%, which is 0.4 percentage points higher than its March forecast, according to SeeNews on July 13, 2026.
This is an editorial score for people comparing countries on our site. It is not investment advice, and one bank forecast does not change every mover's budget math.

Why we changed the score
- A major bank raised the growth call. UniCredit now expects Bulgaria's economy to expand by 2.9% in 2026, up from its earlier March view by 0.4 pp.
- That is a modest but clear upgrade. For relocators, a higher official-style growth path can mean steadier hiring and local demand than a weak forecast would suggest.
- We kept the move small. A single forecast revision is not a full macro reset. Wages, euro adoption timing, and EU fund spending still need watching.
- Other Bulgaria scores are unchanged this round. Cost of living, climate, and safety on the Bulgaria country page still reflect longer-term relocation factors. Only economy moved.
What the number means on our site
Economy on Country To Live measures how strong and stable we think growth, jobs, prices, and business conditions look for a typical international mover. A 7.0/10 edges Bulgaria into a firmer mid-range band after this forecast upgrade.

Before you plan a move
- Separate national growth from your city rent. Sofia tech hubs and Black Sea towns can price differently even when GDP forecasts improve.
- Track wages in your field. Higher GDP growth helps most when local salaries and outsourcing demand follow.
- Check residence rules separately. Economy score does not replace permit income tests. See our Bulgaria financially independent long-stay route if that is your plan.
We will publish another update if growth forecasts keep rising, or if inflation and labor data move sharply the other way.
